Bernard Boesch 1914-2005 Tapis Rouge. Oil on canvas. Boesch was both artist and architect. Started painting at 18 and met both Raoul Dufy and Matisse who influenced him in their use of Fauve colours, evident in this early example of Boesch’s work. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1934/37 and at the Salon des Tuileries, Independents and Automne. Was a reputed architect, responsible for the reconstruction the Atlantic Coast after the WWII. The Museum Bernard Boesch exists in his home town of the Pouliguen. Wonderful painting, beautifully framed.
